Matthew joined the Architecture & Planning team in Norwich in 2021 as a senior member of the planning team. He has over 26 years’ professional experience in the public sector, where he delivered his own complex caseload of planning applications and managed a multi-disciplinary team as Area Planning Manager. He studied for his degree in Environmental Planning at the University of Central England in Birmingham where he also achieved a Post Graduate Diploma in Town Planning.
During his planning career Matthew has developed an extensive planning knowledge and has experience of dealing with a wide range of developments including major housing and commercial developments, tourist facilities and accommodation, listed buildings, conservation projects, care homes, passivhaus housing and large-scale renewable energy projects including national infrastructure projects for a series of offshore wind farms. He has experience of public engagement of planning proposals through various public examinations, Parish/Town Council liaison and meetings and detailed presentations at Planning Committee. He has taken the lead role in many planning appeals for a wide variety of development proposals, successfully presenting his case to appeal inspectors at hearings and inquiries.
Matthew has developed an analytical and pragmatic approach to the development industry and is well regarded as being able to deliver a positive, solutions-based approach to all forms of development.
