James O’Brien joined the firm of White & Kingston in South Lincolnshire in 1986. That Firm subsequently merged with William H Brown and he became a founder partner of Brown&Co when it was created in 1993, following a management buyout.
James has practised as a Land Agent and Agricultural Valuer in Lincolnshire and neighbouring counties providing general and valuation advice to varied client base and specialising in Dispute Resolution and Landlord &Tenant providing advice to farming clients in agricultural tenancies including rent review and succession.
James joined the profession in 1974 and his early career was principally in Estate Management originally in Kent, qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer in 1978. After a spell in Yorkshire, he then moved to the family farm in Sussex and thence to Northamptonshire as Deputy Agent to the Compton Estates.
James has an Honours Degree in Agriculture from the University of Reading, is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers of which he is a Past President. He Is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Is a Member of The RICS President’s Panel of Arbitrators and Independent Experts. He has an Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence and a Certificate in Arbitration Practice.
