Why rural rents are on the rise
Fri 21 Apr 2023
Our Residential Lettings teams are seeing an increase in instructions of properties in villages and rural locations - ideal for tenants looking to exit city centres.
It comes as recent data from Rightmove revealed more renters are leaving UK cities in search of cheaper properties in the countryside.
Across 10 major cities, 42% of tenants are now looking to move out of the city they currently live in to escape rising rentals - on average up 11% compared with this time last year, according to the report.
The higher demand at a time of a scarcity of rental homes across locations and price ranges mean rural properties can command even higher value monthly prices.
The post-Covid demand for country rental properties has not yet diminished."
Lesley Levy, Residential Lettings Manager, Norwich.
In the RICS' Residential Market Survey published earlier this month, it also stated the tenant demand growth indicator had reached a five month high with rents 'squeezed higher' going forwards to the 'highs seen in the early part of the year.'
Our teams across offices are listing an increased number of large country properties for rental in rural locations.
Lesley Levy, Residential Lettings Manager in our Norwich office, said: "At the moment there are more people wanting to rent homes than there are homes available and the post-Covid demand for country rental properties has not yet diminished.
"Many families who are ultimately looking to buy or build their Norfolk-based dream home are more than happy to rent in the meantime."
