“It provides an excellent opportunity for a business owner to be able to get up and running quickly.”
Anna Smith, Commercial Surveyor, Norwich.

A historic building which housed one of Norwich’s most famous restaurants, the Last Brasserie in St George’s Street, is available to rent for £37,000 a year with our Commercial team.

The two-storey café and restaurant premises, which forms part of Merchant’s Court, a mixed Commercial and Residential building, was occupied by the renowned Last Brasserie, formerly known as the Last Wine Bar, until its sudden closure in July.

The building 70-76, St George's Street, was originally a Victorian shoe factory and this inspired its name, The Last, when it opened as a restaurant in 1990.

In recent years, it had been run by head chef Iain McCarten after he took it over from the consortium of investors who ran the restaurant in 2019 following the retirement of its founder.

The building, 70-76 St George's Street, Norwich, is available to rent with our Commercial team.

The building which boasts beautifully presented interiors and is in the heart of the city’s creative quarter, also offers its fixtures and fittings by separate negotiation.

It is suitable for a variety of uses, subject to planning consents.

Since it came onto the market for rental, it has attracted considerable interest.

Anna Smith, Commercial Surveyor, Brown&Co, Norwich, said: “The Last; 70-76, St George’s Street, has had a strong interest from the market because of the building’s reputation for quality and the fact it offers well-presented, versatile space.

“It provides an excellent opportunity for a business owner to be able to get up and running quickly.”

Inside The Last building, now up for rent. Fixtures and fittings are available by separate negotiation.

The ground floor is divided into two main areas, a café with a traditional shop front and a bar and restaurant.

The large basement links the ground floor spaces and provides a large kitchen with a wash/prep room, basement bar and additional restaurant seating. The dining area provides approximately 112 covers in its existing configuration.

The basement also contains male and female cloakrooms and stairs up to both the café and restaurant areas.

Outside, there is courtyard seating to the rear as well as some additional seating at the front of the café on St Georges Street.

The property is fully licensed.
